While on Sandbanks Beach at 08:00 on a Sunday morning, acting as lookout for the Local Seas Day Swimming Group and ensuring nobody had been claimed by the sea before breakfast, I spotted a lone eFoiler defying both gravity and common sense.
Armed with an A6400 and a 70-350mm lens, I managed to capture a series of photographs documenting what appeared to be either exceptional skill or the early stages of a very wet insurance claim.
This wasn’t merely a case of standing on an eFoil and cruising about. At various points, our aquatic daredevil was sitting on the board as if relaxing in an armchair, then standing right at the front, then at the very back, seemingly determined to test every possible way of falling off. Somehow, none of them happened.
The performance reached peak absurdity as he flew past Old Harry Rocks looking less like a watersports enthusiast and more like a wizard late for a staff meeting at Hogwarts, skimming effortlessly across the sea on a very expensive magic carpet.
